RIP MOP

This was posted on Soundcloud.com along with a new recorded track

"Quite a sad day for us at Ekalopse as our recently new bassist MOP.. has passed away.. at 3:35 today.
He had gotten a terrible case of splinters over the last few months. :*(
He turned up ill after one of our jamming sessions, and because of this we only recorded the 3 songs on the EP 'At our criminal worst'. Unfortunately for Mop, this would be his first and last record with us. His bass was brilliant, he was a star, a better musician than me (Pupendai) by far. Not better than The General but whatevs.
We made this song in memory of him, but also in memory of Mr. Bindy, our other dead band member.. this was murder but still a horrible loss (Even though i did it).

Two brilliant, amazing parts of Ekalopse, you brought something amazing into our lives in the form of your music.

If anyone is wondering why this song sounds similar to 'Ghosts and Gold' and stuff its caus it was only the two of us making it..

We guessed something was up a few days ago when Mop posted on his official Twitter page 'In the hospital AGAIN! Just wanna jam with DJ Dial-Up' Since releasing work with Ekalopse he'd gathered up a lot of interest from other artists eager to get him on board

'His bass lines were amazing, the song 'Wings' is out of this world. Not to mention apparently he wrote the whole song, them other Ekalopse crew have always been known to be terrible, that was until Mop came along and did Wings'. - DJ Dial-Up.

"Hello to all of the Ekalopse fans out there. This is The General here, I don't talk much on this blog, or online in general. But I did want to come on here and say thanks to all of our fans for supporting us in our journey. We have had some ups and downs along the way and you have always stood by.
We made this FUNeral song in memory, not only of our good friend Mop but also in memory of our long lost friend, Mr. Bindy.
The song is not exactly a dedication, as I'm sure they'd both say it was too depressing or not well structured enough. Although Mop never said that much anyway.
It was literally us throwing our sadness into music.

Hey dudes!
Pupendai here, hope we did not scare you! Hoping we still in ya playlists and still got dem fans out there! If not, then oh well it is goin to be a lonely post.

Ok so you guys already know that me and the General sadly retired.. and then one special EP for you guys 'At Our Criminal Worst' . But still ultimately, we have retired from Ekalopse.

But that does not mean Ekalopse is no more, our music will live on! Share with your friends! Our Too Dumb to Panic hit the world by storm, I'm sure your babies will love it as well.

We've been a band since 2007, slowly gaining popularity .... some wacky stuff happened. We made some absolutely excellent songs.

Unfortunately we have gotten rather old.. and so have started to feel like knitting is our true futures. I'm just kidding of course, I'm playing video games and the General has gone on to make a massive amount of beautiful orchestral music. It is lovely.I am really proud of him.
Mop on the other hand has gone and joined Linkin Park as their new bass guitarist.... like they don't already have enough members not doing anything in the band.

Thats me being spotted in New York. Look at all those people trying to get my attention. Well.. i think it was for my attention, though they were filming a new smurfs movie beside me at the time.

2012 EP released, At Our Criminal Worst

You've been hearing whispers all around about us making a new album!! You may have even heard an interview i did like on the radio! They did an interview wiv me and I mentioned the new band member, Mop. I also played some preview clips of the new tracks. Well the day has come! We put a bit of info on the official page but I'll let ya guys kno a lil bit more here.
We were making all them lil scratchy tunes after our retirement, basically jamming sessions. We did a lot of jamming sessions and released about 2 jamming albums. Those are currently unavailable to download now but like, they gave you the idea that we STILL liked makin music together even tho we'd retired.
So we were hanging out at a nightclub recently and heard someone playin bass all by them self without a band! So we thought, ya know, lets grab him, so we opened the cubicle door in the bathroom and pulled him out and said, you wanna jam with us?
Mop was not just up for jamming, he pushed us into making some full, proper songs! So we made this EP of like 4 songs. (3 new, and 1 is our retirement track)
I know what you'll be asking be4 u even start listening to the songs. ARE YA MAKING MORE? ARE YA GOING TO MAKE A WHOLE NEW ALBUM NOW?

answer is no. Unfortunately this will be our last musical journey together for a long while. The General.. sadly is moving away to america to continue his jazz work.
It is kinda a sad time 4 us, so please make us happy with your comments on our new songs!

Ekalopse release new track to the world live on Radio 1

Hey guys! You ghostin?
just letting you know we were asked to do an interview on Radio 1 a few days ago on a program called 'The famous musicians that are now working at Mcdonalds'.
Well me and The General would not normally agree to do something like that, but this time we brought our instruments and decided to prove them wrong! We wrote a song especially for the broadcast!

Straight after the live broadcast we released the official song!

Whatsyo1!

Just to let you know we're doin fine. Sorry about being so quiet.

You may have heard across a few news networks that Ekalopse was sued 5 million billion pounds for 'stealing' a song from a children's television show.
Yeah we lost the battle and now we almost can't even afford this blog! Even THOUGH IT IS FREE! Shows ya how poor we are.

Anyway we lost our studio .... kinda sad.
So me and The General made a song about no money and recorded it with an internet cafe computer's microphone...

Ekalopse BIO

They are a band, They've fought clockwork monsters, the universe and themselves.
Ekalopse started off with the talented keyboardist and vocalist, Mr Bindy bringing together a band of plenty.
Mr Bindy met The General in university and the soon to be vocalist, Pupendai in a dustbin looking for food. They connected automatically and created a revolting sound.
Mr. Bindy's high pitched voice and chirpy tunes on their album, Fruit Encyklopedia brought little girls calling and singing.
FE Singles: Ekalopse can't make music, Old Realm, Maniac, Blood Eyes Reflection

After that success Pupendai lost his mind and brutally murdered Mr. Bindy due to his high voice getting really annoying.

A few years later The General contacted the jail keeping Pupendai and asked if they could make some music. they recorded the album, 'July' whilst passing music through to the jail, where Pupendai wrote and recorded various lyrics.

Then monsters began to attack the world, they crashed down the prison letting Pupendai out.
The General met up with Pupendai and they made a musical journey of their experience during war time with their album, Radio Rodent.

After this they found a relaxing spot to just chill, on top of a nice hill. They built their own lovely studio and recorded 'Ghosts and Gold' as gold fell from the sky. This was the first time they called in collaborators to work on their music.
Ghosts and Gold got 2/10 stars from MegaMutant Pops Magazine.
G&G Singles: Bulldozed, Pirates, Bus Stop, Pepper's Ghost, Care

Ekalopse did not let that get them down. Their next adventure involved them using the money they had earnt to fly themselves into space.
"We wanted to be inspired by something not earthly, out of this world."
They recorded their most popular album, "Too Dumb to Panic" entirely in a space station on the planet Florf.

In 2012 they released their last album, a demo album titled 'The Yeti Man's Demo Anthems'. It included some new tracks, as well as ones that never made it onto the other albums.

YMDA Singles: 'Steamtrain' got a music video

Their record producers Xtric Plugkits (produced Too Dumb) then released their Best Of Album, a collection of songs chosen by Ekalopse themselves.

As this happened the band announced a public retirement. But unfortunately returned with a 4 song EP instead.

'At our Criminal Worst' had 3 completely new songs with new bass guitarist MOP. The fourth track was their retirement song, 'Steamtrain' (From the Yeti Album)

Every track was released as a single apart from Steamtrain 'Foxtrot, Lance is not on this Floor and the massive hit, Wings'

On 19/02/13 the band lost their bass guitarist, Mop to a terrible case of Splinters. They produced a short song in his memory.

Since the loss of Mop, their retirement has seen them releasing Jamming Sessions and small Musical Collab pieces. No singles as of yet. But many unfinished tracks.

In April 2015, Ekalopse set up a SoundCloud page dedicated to their favourite tracks. They named it 'Ekapops' and stated that they saw it as a new album for some reason. To their credit, it did include a few new tracks.

While doing so Ekalopse also announced their unofficial break-up. Stating that the two artists had gone their separate ways.

On May 17th 2015, Ekalopse released a new album titled, 'Reality Therapy'. This collection of tracks was a variety of unreleased and previously released tracks from the EKAPOPS collection. They stated the album was their most personal yet. "At one point I'd caught this horrible mental illness that constantly kept bringing back exaggerated negative memories at random times! I still have it..." - Pupendai. "It's about friends and lovers and how they disappear."

It is believed the actual members are still separate at this point.

Since the release it has been reported that The General is still in the US working on his Jazz career.

On 17/10/2015 the band released a song named 'Easter' when The General came back to the UK for a holiday. It was a critical success. No news whether this might lead to more music. It was later included on the official release of the album, 'Reality Therapy'.

On 01/02/2016 Ekalopse released a surprise album titled 'OK, WE WILL'. Asked in an interview what the title meant, Pupendai said it was the answer to the question 'Can you stop making music please?'.

The album was mostly produced by Pupendai and new musician, S. Steps. Though it was noted that The General did send material via the medium of email.

'Another very personal album. I'd say... as personal as Reality Therapy but with a bit more professionalism to it...'

07/08/2016 brought the release and blog post about new album, 'Fun but Dead'. S. Steps returned to work with Pupendai while The General worked on the album during a holiday to the UK.

The band mentioned they wanted to make a happier sounding album after two previously depressing collections.

On 4/02/2017 Ekalopse posted a blog post about their new song 'Never Be Happy'. They noted that while their new album had yet to be completed, fans could listen to both finished songs and demos via their Soundcloud Album page. Their future album has yet to recieve a title. At this point in time the work in progress is named 'When I Forget the Sky'. There is no word on release date.

On 27/03/2017 Ekalopse released their new album 'No Birds' with 16 tracks including singles Never Be Happy and Crayolalola. The band (minus S.Steps) had a photo shoot where they were dressed in feathered outfits for the cover art. It was also reported that The General had returned to the UK.
